My life as a shoe - 5. My life as a shoe

I'm just a shoe, content on my own,
With every step, I've roamed and grown.
Through morning dew and sunlit trails,
I danced in rhythm, without fail.

I'm doing fine, yes, I'm doing just fine,
Life's a winding road, a steady line.
I've walked through fields in fragrant bloom,
And felt the earth in bright costume.

With dirt and stones I braved the land,
Every scrape felt like a friend's hand.
I knew no lack, or need for more,
Until one day, the world felt sore.

Then came the day, a strange divide,
My partner lost, torn from my side.
In lonely steps, the silence grows,
A weight inside that deeper goes.

And now I see, alone I am bare,
Incomplete in this world, lost in despair.
Only as two can we truly be whole,
Together, the rhythm fills my sole.

So here I wait, one half in need,
For the steps we took, our shared creed.
For a shoe alone finds no retreat,
Only in pairs are we truly complete.
