Thoughts - 8. Left behind
They paved the way, laid the stones we walk,
Raised the walls and built the clock.
Now they wait at the station, trains rushing past,
A world that moves too quickly, leaving them last.
Left behind in a race they once led,
Disconnected, with so much unsaid.
Time keeps turning, but where do they stand?
The future forgets the builders of the land.
The bus never comes, the doctor’s too far,
The streets feel empty, no guiding star.
Technology towers where silence remains,
And progress moves on, ignoring their pain.
Left behind in a race they once led,
Disconnected, with so much unsaid.
Let’s turn back time and give them their due,
For the past holds the key to what’s truly new.
Not gone, just waiting where progress won’t tread,
Their stories remain, though the world moves ahead.
